Brighton football star Shane Duffy has paid an emotional tribute to his late father who died on Monday, May 11, aged 53.
Duffy took to social media to announce the tragic news, mourning his late dad as his hero and idol.
"You weren't just my dad, you were my hero, my idol. I'll missing ringing you after the match and you telling me how s***e I was," the 28-year-old posted.
"Daddy I love you and miss you. Look after us all now. Every time I put that green shirt on for our country I'll be thinking about you because I know how proud you were of me playing for Ireland," he added.
Ireland football legend Robbie Keane and boxing star Tonny Bellew were among Duff's fans who took time to commiserate with him.

Keane commented: "So sorry to hear that Shane, I'm thinking of you and the family."
While Bellew added: "Thinking of you Duffer mate... thoughts are with you."
Brian, Duffy's late dad is understood to have passed away at his home in Co Derry, Northern Ireland.
Having often travelled abroad to watch his son in action, Brian was well-known among Ireland football fans.
Meanwhile, Shane has established himself as an integral squad member with the Ireland national football team since making his debut in 2014.
His death comes few hours after Legit.ng reported that Atalanta teenage sensation Andrea Rinaldi has died barely three days after suffering brain condition.
The 19-year-old midfielder joined the Serie A side on a loan deal from lower league outfit club Legnano.
He was said to have rushed to the hospital in Varese on Friday, May 8, after falling ill but he failed to make it out of there alive.
His club confirmed the news on their official website, expressing their sadness over the death of the talented player.
They described Rinaldi as "a golden boy, exemplary in life and play"
