Covid-19: Test result of late white woman who died in the state comes back negative

- The Delta state government has said the test result of an American woman who died in the state is negative as against public belief

- According to Dr Mordi Ononye, the state commissioner for health, the result of her Nigerian lover is also not positive

- The state government urged people to keep practising protective measures laid out against the spread of the virus

The commissioner for health in Delta state, Dr Mordi Ononye, has said that the coronavirus test result of the 67-year-old white woman that died in the state on Sunday, May 10, is negative.

The result was made known via the state government Twitter page on Tuesday, May 12. The commissioner also added that the young man said to be the deceased partner also tested negative.

Mordi then appealed to residents to follow all government directives on how to protect themselves against the contraction and spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the news of the death of a United States citizen who died from suspected coronavirus complications in Delta state trended online.

The 67-year-old woman whose identity was not ascertained had come into Nigeria to visit her boyfriend whom she met on the internet.

Speaking with the media, a security official attached to a police station in the local government, disclosed that the young man and the lady had lodged at a hotel in Osubi town since her arrival in Nigeria on Tuesday, March 3.

"The young man and the American white lady lodged in a hotel in Osubi where they spent some weeks. The white lady fell sick and she began to manifest some symptoms of COVID-19, especially severe coughing. At this stage, her lover rushed her to a private clinic in Osubi but she gave up the ghost this morning.

"Immediately she died at the hospital, her Nigerian lover carried her corpse in a Venza car to the Orerokpe Police Division and he was arrested by the police. While still at the station, a doctor was brought and took samples from the corpse for test," he said.

In other news, the general overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet TB Joshua has said that pandemic such as coronavirus only happens once every 100 years.

TB Joshua said that God told him in a revelation that there will be hard times immediately after the lockdown is over, urging people to live within their means.

The cleric said that as a way to survive, many will have to “withdraw from the city to rural life or to do away with some of your properties”.
