A teacher took to social media to share how he used his savings to buy food for the less fortunate. The Ermelo-based educator has helped 25 families in his community thus far.
Spyda SifisosamaBinda took to the #ImStaying Facebook group to share his story. He used his savings to help eight families with food parcels in one day. Thereafter, he managed to reach 12 families with the help of his former students.
"We have brought smiles to 25 families around Ermelo."
He decided to not take pictures of the families because he did not want to exploit their plight. Social media users praised his kind deed. Facebook user Mokgadi Mokwala said:
"The pain of being all over social media because someone was helping you. I know how it feels like I remember 2010 posing for food parcels too. People should take pictures of the food rather not pictures of the people they are helping."
Penney Wentzel said:
"Thank you for your promise of the correct use of English and for your charity. Everything counts towards an easier life for another."
Zanele Thabethe said:
"Reading with understanding is a skill, then comment after understanding is also a skill."
Marilyn Anne Harris said:
"It makes me so proud to be South African. We are awesome people. Thank you."
Christina Hurriparsad said:
"God bless you dear... it's very tough now family depends on support, especially those who don't have any income at all. I know my God will make a way for me and my family."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that popular Nigerian politician, Dino Melaye, has given out a fresh batch of relief materials to help people with the hard economic realities they are facing.
In a short video he posted on Twitter on Thursday, May 7, the politician said that he is giving bags of rice to the less privileged people of Kogi West.
He also cautioned against leaders taking the rice to their houses instead of giving them to the poor, adding that God will fight them if they do so.
