Antonio Conte sends emotional message to John Terry having phased him out

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has issued a very emotional message practically apologising to former Chelsea captain John Terry for phasing him out of the club.

Terry dropped down the pecking order under the Italian tactician who made his debut season at the Stamford Bridge side during the 2016/2017 a season.

Conte preferred to start Gary Cahill and David Luiz in the Chelsea defence ahead of the then club captain.

However, Conte who is currently the manager of Italian Serie A side Inter Milan has opened up about his privilege in managing the club icon.

"It was a great privilege for me to be the coach of a Chelsea legend like John Terry," Conte told Sky Sports News.

"We are talking about a top man, a really good man and then a top player. He helped me a lot in my first season in and out of the pitch.

"He was very important in the training ground, during the sessions to keep the concentration standards high."

Terry bowed of out action for Chelsea by making a cameo appearance of 26 minutes in the final day win over Sunderland, something which Conte was happy to grant.

He continued: ”He decided he wanted this because 26 was his squad number and for me it was a pleasure to give him this opportunity.

"I will never be able to thank him enough. He was very important for me and our team."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea legend and former captain John Terry has reportedly told the club to intensify their plan to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho this summer.
