Dr. Pius Odubu has denied having anything to do with allegations against Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Captain Hosa Okunbo over the coming Edo state governorship election.
Tinubu, Oshiomhole and Okunbo were accused of teaming up to endorse one of the governorship aspirants in the state.
"My attention has been drawn to a misleading story trending on the APC social media platform, casting aspersions on very prominent and highly respected members of our society, trying to connect them with the recent happenings in our party.
“I wish to state categorically that I have no hand in this, neither did I authorise such a despicable article. Captain Okunbo, Asiwaju Tinubu and Comrade Oshiomhole are men of impeccable character and I have uttermost respect for all of them. Nobody should under any guise associate me with anything that will cast aspersion on their hard-earned reputations.”
“For the embarrassment this might have caused them, I offer my sincere apologies. Please let it be known that the writer is not known to me, neither does he have my authority to do what he did," Odubu said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a war of words between the APC governorship aspirants in Edo state and Governor Godwin Obaseki started after the failed bid to remove Oshiomhole.
The guber aspirants of the ruling party are Dr Pius Odubu, Saturday Uwalekhue, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Chris Ogienmwonyi, and Maj.-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd.).
Obaseki at a news conference in Benin was accused of being behind the futile plot to oust Oshiomhole.
Odubu, who addressed reporters on behalf of the others, said: “To Obaseki, his second term is not negotiable. It is more important than the lives of people of Edo state.
“Anyone who dares to stand on his path must be crushed. Edo governor, who ought to be a political leader that unites all members of APC, has become an instrument of division, intimidation, humiliation and political vendetta."
