Controversial Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere popularly known as Odumeje appears to have gotten himself in trouble, following a recent call by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) for his arrest.
According to The Guardian, the association through a written statement urged the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to order the immediate arrest of the Onitsha-based cleric, over his abuse of the national currency, especially in public gatherings.
The report further stated that that the association’s national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko and the director of media affairs, Zainab Yussuf, in the statement noted that the call to the minister of finance, CBN governor and the president, was to implore them to defend the national currency against global defacing.

“We have watched with disappointments as this self-professed prophet Odumuje kept abusing and defacing the national currency and both the Police and the CBN have failed for many months to stamp their authorities and prosecute these serial abusers of the national currency,” the statement read in part.
The association also referenced Section 21(3) of the CBN act of 2007, which strongly frowns against mishandling naira notes issued by the CBN.
