Sunday Bada: Sports Minister Dare donates cash to mother of late athlete

The Sports Minister Sunday Dare has continued to put smiles on the faces of surviving mothers of late Nigerian stars, with the mom of late Nigerian athlete Sunday Dare the latest beneficiary.
Complete Sports reports that Odomogun quarters, Ilaere Ogidi in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State which is the ancestral home of the former Olympic gold medalist came to life on Sunday, May 10.
Mrs Fumilayo Bada, the surviving mother of late runner, got a soul-lifting cash of N50,000 and food items such as rice, semovita and beverages courtesy the Minister for Youths and Sports Development Sunday Dare.

The gesture is part of Dare’s commitment to assisting mothers of fallen stars that had contributed to the development of Nigerian sports.
Mrs Bada expressed gratitude to the minister for lending support to her, especially on Mothers’ Day.
Bada who was a member of the 4×400 relay team that won a gold medal for Nigeria at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games died on December 12, 2011.
He also won the 400m gold at the IAAF (now World Athletics) World Indoor Championships in Paris, France in 1997 after winning silver twice (1993 in Toronto, Canada and 1995 in Barcelona, Spain).
Until his death, he was the technical director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
Sunday Dare earlier extended his hands of generosity to the mother of late Super Eagles star Samuel Okwaraji by sending food items and cash of N50,000 to her.
This comes days after mother of Rashidi Yekini got the same amount of money from the Ministry of Sports in which she was also placed on N10,000 monthly as stipend.
There have been news that Samuel Okwaraji's mother has been down since the shocking death of her son 31 years year ago and she has not yet recover from the shock of losing her son.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a monthly stipend of N30,000 each to be paid to the surviving mothers of late ex-internationals Rashidi Yekini and Samuel Okwaraji.
This was made known via the official Twitter handle of the federation on Thursday, May 7 in furtherance to, and in appreciation of, the recent pronouncement of the Sports Minister Sunday Dare.
NFF also stated that the idea will also be extended to surviving mothers of other ex-internationals who died in active service for the country.
