Lionel Messi: Hag says the Argentine has not reached same level since Guardiola left

- Lionel Messi won 14 trophies at Barcelona under Pep Guardiola

- Erig Ten Hag says the Argentine has lost his form since Guardiola left

- Pep Guardiola is currently the coach of EPL side Manchester City

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has claimed that Barcelona star Lionel Messi has failed to play at the same level in which he played under former manager Pep Guardiola.

During the four years that Lionel Messi played under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, he was so superb winning 14 trophies and also four Ballon d'Or awards.

But since the departure of Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, Lionel Messi has only been able to win the Ballon d'Or awards two times.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag still believes Messi is no longer the player he once was.

"Messi was one of the leaders, but he also worked for the team and excelled as a result. He has never been as good as under Guardiola.

"Barcelona has not won much in European terms in recent years either.

"Messi still excels, but now also occasionally goes through the lower limit. It was never like that under Guardiola.

"Pep has guts, he dares to be pioneering and innovative,'' Ten Hag told Voetbal International.

According to the report on UK Mirror, the Catalans on the other hand are not ready to allow him stay and could sell him out this summer.
