Actor Yul Edochie defends Mercy Eke, says she is not local but simply Nigerian

Popular Nigerian movie star Yul Edochie recently clapped hard in support of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) 2019 Mercy Eke.

The Nollywood screen god appeared to have been scrolling past his feed on micro blogging platform, Twitter, when he came across a report about an individual who labelled Mercy as a local star and said she is too annoying.

Edochie who was not pleased with the description given to Mercy quickly took to her defense and corrected the impression that she is local.

According to the actor, a lot of Nigerians have been so consumed by the westerners that it has made them start seeing their people as local.

Edochie noted that popular footballer Cristiano Ronaldo speaks English language with a Portugese accent and has never been referred to as being local.

He emphasized the fact that Nigerians are not white. Edochie also made it clear that Mercy is not local but should be seen as a Nigerian or a Biafran.

"Many brains need to be formatted in this country. We no be Oyibo. Mercy Eke is not local, she is simply Nigerian or Biafran," his tweet read in part.

Some weeks ago, Legit.ng previously reported that Yul Edochie took to social media via his Twitter page to reach out to the president of the country. Edochie reacted to the news that President Buhari will be addressing Nigerians during a live broadcast on April 27, 2020. The actor then implored the president to speak to Nigerians from his heart and not to read his speech from a piece of paper like he has been known to do.
