The Bauchi state government is making efforts to locate an unnamed 25-year-old man who went into hiding after he tested positive for COVID-19.
The executive chairman of the Bauchi state primary health care development agency, Rilwan Mohammed, made the disclosure to Premium Times.
He said the patient escaped from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital isolation centre.
The official explained that intelligence gathered by security operative indicate that the 25 years old COVID-19 patient ran to a village in Darazo local government
“He is 25 years old and he ran away and went back to Darazo. We have not yet gotten him and we gave the Police and the SSS Personal Protective Gears, they know where he is and they will go and bring him back," Mohammed said.
Meanwhile, Abdulrazak Habib, the co-chairman of Kano state task force on Covid-19, has narrated how he recovered and what he experienced as a patient.
Habib who is a professor at the Bayero University Kano and also works at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital recovered on Thursday, May 7.
In an official statement by the health ministry, his admission at the isolation centre came after he had tested negative and there was almost no symptom.
The academic said he was infected while he was working with the task force, adding that he was sick for a month and on admission for several days.
Professor Habib also spoke about the regimen he was placed on during the time he was recuperating at the centre.
“(I was) treated with many medications, intravenous fluids, oxygen by nasal cannulae as well as steam inhalation using black seed, clove oil, ginger tea among other things. Overall I lost 7Kg in weight,” he said.
