The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has distanced itself from an advertisement by a dream interpretation service that had the logo of the agency.
The NCDC reacting to the incident flagged the advert as fake news. The agency noted that the flyer from the dream interpretation was not backed by the NCDC.
It noted that any unauthorised use of the NCDC logo is prohibited and should be avoided.
The agency told Nigerians manifesting symptoms of COVID19 to call their states hotlines for approriate action
"The flyer circulating for dream interpretation services to prevent #COVID19 is NOT supported or validated by NCDC. Please note, unauthorised use of the NCDC logo is prohibited & should be avoided. If you or someone you know has symptoms of #COVID19 please call your state hotline," the statement from the NCDC read in part.
Meanwhile, the federal government on Thursday, May 7 again warned of a possible fresh lockdown of the country over the violation of the guidelines on the eased lockdown.
National coordinator, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, gave the warning in Abuja during the daily briefing of the PTF.
He said if Nigerians continue to fail to respect and follow all the guidelines, the PTF might review and possibly change them.
In another news report, officials of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) sent to ascertain the COVID-19 status of Kogi have left the state to avoid being sent on isolation and subjected to COVID-19 test.
The officials of the NCDC had in a meeting with Governor Yahaya Bello said they were sent to Kogi to assist the state in responding to the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Responding, Governor Bello thanked the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential Task Force for rising to the occasion. He said the world must unite to defeat the virus.
The governor, however, said the state has resolved to comply with the protocols of the NCDC by putting the officials in quarantine for 14 days and take their samples to ensure they are COVID-19 free.
The officials reportedly said they were not ready to be tested for COVID-19 and went back to Abuja.
