President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, over the clean bill of health given to him by the board of directors of the financial institution.
Legit.ng reports that the president through his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, made the commendation on Thursday, May 7.
According to the statement a report dated May 5, signed by Niale Kaba, chairman of the bureau of the board of governors, indicated that Adesina had been exonerated of allegations against him by whistleblowers.
The allegations were thoroughly investigated by the ethics committee of the board of directors, and a recommendation made to governors of the African Development Bank, and African Development Fund.
"According to Kaba, in the report, on the basis of the results contained in the report of the committee, I am of the view that we should adopt its conclusions by declaring that the President is totally exonerated of all the allegations made against him,” the statement read.
President Buhari said Adesina has served the African continent well and has made his motherland proud, whishing him greater successes in the position of responsibility he occupies.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Alwan Ali Hassan as the acting managing director for the Bank of Agriculture and the immediate dissolution of the Interim Management Team.
It was reported that this was disclosed in a statement signed by Theodore Ogaziechi, the director information.
Buhari's approval in a letter dated Tuesday, May 5, was conveyed to the minister of agriculture and rural development, Muhammad Sabo Nanono.
Hassan who is a seasoned banker with over two decades of experience in the banking sector hails from Kano state.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and has served on the management boards of banks within and outside Nigeria. Until his appointment, Hassan was chairman/CEO Midrange Universal Biz Ltd.
The new acting MD for the Bank of Agriculture is married with children and a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors among others.
