The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has vowed to go all out for the actualization of a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction in the next presidential election scheduled for 2023.

Legit.ng gathered that the group, which has always clamoured for the restructuring of Nigeria expressed optimism that God would make the actualization of an Igbo president possible.

The apex Igbo organization further said that if it was decreed by God that an Igbo man would become Nigeria's next president, the babbling of some groups masquerading as champions of their interest would not count, The Sun reports.

Ohanaeze said: “The purported actions exist only in the imagination of the miscreants and enemies of the Igbo nation who are the purveyors of the unfortunate concoctions.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo reiterates that there is no organisation as Ohanaeze Youth Council recognized by Ndigbo and that the misguided so-called leader of the group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, is a warped, egocentric and power-hungry mind who obviously is living in an incontrovertible state of mental delusion.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo regrets the unpatriotic acts of some Igbo politicians sponsoring these equally unpatriotic irredentists shamelessly flying the kite for them towards 2023.

“It states that if it is the wish of God that a president of Igbo stock shall emerge in 2023, it will not be midwifed by an inconsequential group whose only mission and preoccupation is personal aggrandizement and not the collective interest and aspiration of Ndigbo.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization denied claims that Nigeria's former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon (retd), was appointed to negotiate Igbo presidency on its behalf.

Chuks Ibegbu, spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement expressed shock over comments that Gowon was appointed by the organization to lead the negotiation for Nigeria presidency of Igbo extraction in 2023.

The group went on to warn people who make statements using the name of the organization to stop doing such or they will be prosecuted for impersonation.

In a related development, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Oba Maduabuchi, stated that the southeast is not ready for the 2023 presidency.

The respected Igbo lawyer said this during an interview with the Daily Sun newspaper. He said the basic principle with respect to politics is that power is never given, but power is taken.
