The issue of abuse in relationships is one that is quite prevalent in African society. A number of ladies have shied away from leaving their husbands despite being in an abusive relationship over fears that it is not Biblical and because of what people will say.
Well, a Nigerian preacher, Rev. Grace Aiyedogbon, has spoken about the issue of abuse in marriage on social media. She did this while speaking with Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe.
According to the preacher, the bible does not say that one should remain in an abusive relationship and die. She also said that if a lady eventually dies in such a marriage, it will not take the man long to marry another woman.
The preacher said that there is a level of abuse someone must not take in marriage and must seek help and that someone must not stay in an abusive relationship.
Aiyedogbon also said that the doctrine of submission is equal and mutual.
Aigbe then asked if the preacher means that the bible says men should also submit to their wives and the preacher affirmed it, saying it is in Ephesians chapter five.
