It has become an accepted fact that Lagos is an interesting city filled with equally interesting people. Many Lagosians are usually advised to ‘shine their eyes’ because there is always someone on the lookout for newbies to dupe.
Just recently, the Lagos state government eased the lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic and a number of people trooped out after about a month of staying indoors to go about their business.
Interestingly, a lot of videos surfaced online showing overcrowded banks as people pushed themselves to get into the premises. This led to others wondering what exactly they were going to do at the bank.
Well, we might have an answer going by the experience of one Twitter user identified as @phatzey.
According to Phatzey, he left his house as early as 7am in order to beat the serious crowd at the bank. Sadly, he ended up being number 135 on the queue.
After a while, Phatzey discovered that those at the front of the queue did not actually have accounts with the bank but were only there to sell their spot on the queue for N10k each.
Phatzey wrote: “Lagos is crazy mehn, got to bank as early as 7am and I got number 135 and guess what??numbers 1-10 are people that doesn’t have account with the bank and now they’re offering to sell each numbers for 10k. Lagos nawa".
