Aisha Buhari makes huge donations, gives out bags of rice, sugar, other food items
- Nigerian first lady, Aisha Buhari, has donated food items to religious organisations in the country as a way to help feed vulnerable people
- The first lady said that the items should be given to those who are really in need of them in those organisations
- Aisha added that it is important for religious leaders to sensitise their followers on the importance to stay safe and follow guidelines against the spread of Covid-19

The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has responded to the plight of the masses during this Covid-19 lockdown as she donated food items to religious groups.
The donation was made known on Twitter by a Nigerian named Jaafar Umar Abba. Among the items were bags of rice and sugar.
According to Jaafar, the donation was made on Monday and Tuesday, May 4 and 5 through her representative, Dr Hajo Sani, the senior special assistant to the president on women affairs.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Abuja branch, and the Catholic Church in the FCT were the first beneficiaries of the items.
Dame Pauline K Tallen, the minister of women affairs, was present during the palliative presentation on Monday, May 4.
Ansarudden Society of Nigeria, NASFAT were among the second batch of beneficiaries. Others were Jamaatu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Ikamatul Sunnah and Darika Sect.
The first lady, therefore, enjoined all the benefited institutions to get the materials to those who need them most in their groups.
Aisha also called on religious leaders to use the present period to teach their followers about the “virtues of humanity" and the need to follow guidelines on how to ensure safety during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has given the latest situation report on coronavirus cases in Africa.

In the WHO African update for Tuesday, May 5, the organisation said that the continent now has 46,500 cases and recorded death figures of 1,800.
From the table, South Africa has the highest number of cases with 7,220 and 138 death. It is followed by Algeria with 4,648 cases with the highest number of death at 465.
On the table, Nigeria occupied the third position of countries with 2,802. Ghana and Cameroon are on the 4th and 5th positions with 2,719 and 2,077 cases respectively.
