- Odion Ighalo is expected to remain at Manchester United
- The Red Devils want the Nigerian to finish the current season
- Premier League has been on hold because of coronavirus
Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly planning to extend the stay of Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo at Old Trafford beyond the end of the month of May.
The former Watford man joined Manchester United in January and his contract with the Red Devils ends this month even though there have been talks of extension since last two months.
Since Odion Ighalo joined Manchester United, he has been able to prove himself as one of the best strikers in the world with his performances.
But with the current Premier League season on hold and there has been no definite time for the resumption, United already have plans for Odion Ighalo.
According to BBC’s Simon Peach, the Old Trafford landlords are ready to convince Ighalo's parent club Shanghai Shenhua for him to stay until when the eventually ends.
''Manchester United would like to extend Odion Ighalo’s stay at Old Trafford.
“The striker's loan deal expires at the end of May but an extension for the rest of the season assuming it restarts depends on the situation at Shanghai Shenhua.
“He certainly made a decent impact in a short period,''. Peach explained.
Since replacing injured Marcus Rashford, Odion Ighalo has netted four goals for Manchester United in all competitions.
Solskjaer has however not concluded his decision if he wants Odion Ighalo to stay at Old Trafford beyond the current season or not.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles goalie Ikechukwu Ezenwa stated emphatically that he would love to join his fellow countryman Odion Ighalo at Premier League giants Manchester United.
Ezenwa who currently plays for Katsina United in the Nigerian Premier League has never moved out of the country's League since he started his football career years back with Ocean Boys.
The 31-year-old have been in the Super Eagles since 2014 and was among the squad Gernot Roht took to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He is very close to Odion Ighalo who retired from the national team after Nigeria's participation at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
While speaking with Super Eagles media team, the former Heartland goalie explained that Manchester United is his favorite club stressing that he used to support Real Madrid when he was young.
