Reacting to the development, Dr Abubakar Nagoma Usman, the president association of resident Doctors in the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), blamed the situation on the refusal of patients to give details of their health histories while in isolation centres.
Usman stated: “This is more than the Lassa fever because some of the patients came without a classical symptom of the disease.
''Some of them even present no symptoms while sometimes, they will present with other symptoms of a different disease but when you get to see them, or when you start managing them, you will realize that they are already positive for COVID-19 disease.''
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Kano state government on Tuesday, May 5, discharged three Covid-19 patients who had successfully recovered from the disease weeks after treatment.
Speaking during the task force briefing on Covid-19, Tijjani Hussain, the coordinator of the committee made this known to the pressmen.
Hussain further claimed the patients were discharged after testing negative for the disease twice according to stipulated protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (CDC).
Legit.ng had gathered that the NCDC reported 27 cases of coronavirus in Kano. In a series of tweets on Monday, May 4, the agency reported 245 cases with Kano coming fourth on the log behind Lagos, Jigawa and Katsina.
