Fourteen more COVID-19 patients have been discharged by the Lagos state government after making a full recovery and testing negative twice consecutively to coronavirus disease.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed this in an update on COVID-19 in the state, according to a tweet by Gboyega Akosile, the governor's chief press secretary on Monday, May 4.
Legit.ng gathers that the newly discharged patients are six females and eight males.
Akosile disclosed that two patients were discharged from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, seven from the Onikan Isolation centre, four from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and one from Landmark Isolation Centre.
This brings the total number of recovered patients discharged from isolation facilities in the state to 261.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Ministry of Lagos on Monday, May 4, said the state recorded two more deaths from the deadly coronavirus pandemic, bringing the death toll to 30.
As at Sunday, May 3, Lagos, from the report of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), recorded 39 new cases and pushed the number of confirmed cases to 1,123.
In the space of one week, the state recorded 11 deaths, although the ministry did not give details of the deceased patients.
In its reports, the ministry said: “39 new cases of COVID-19 Infection confirmed. Total confirmed cases in Lagos now 1,123."
Meanwhile, the health agency has confirmed that Nigeria recorded 245 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total infections to 2,802.
This was revealed in a tweet at 11:46 pm on Monday night, May 4, by the NCDC. According to the health agency's breakdown of the new infections, 76 are in Lagos, 37 from Katsina, 32 in Jigawa, 23 from Kano, and 19 in the FCT.
Borno recorded 18, Edo had 10, 6 in Adamawa, and 5 each in Bauchi, Oyo and Ogun. While Ekiti, Osun, Benue, Niger, and Zamfara states had one new case each.
