- Jose Mourinho has admitted that he cried the night Real Madrid lost to Bayern Munich in a Champions League semifinal clash
- The German club progressed to the final following their 3-1 win on penalties after both sides played 3-3 aggregate in 180 minutes
Mourinho was denied a chance to win his third UCL title having won two at FC Porto and Inter Milan
Jose Mourinho has recalled the only defeat that brought tears out of his eyes was when Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 3-1 on penalties in the semifinal of Champions League in 2012.
The Portuguese-born tactician was on his way to the final of the elite championship having come back from a 2-1 loss at the Allianz Arena in the first leg to win the second match by the same scoreline.
But their failure to convert their chances in the shootouts ended their quest of winning double the same season after setting a record in the La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the players who missed the spot-kick on the night as Manuel Nueur shouldered his team to the final which they went ahead to win.
Madrid had a fantastic season that year and they were tagged favourites to win the European trophy but the 57-year-old missed out of his third UCL glory.
Apart from Ronaldo, Kaka and Sergio Ramos were the other Madristars who failed to covert their penalties at the Santiago Bernabeu eight years ago.
Mourinho told Spanish news platform Marca that the defeat was a sour loss for him, adding that he was reduced to tears after failing to win La Decima.
He said: "Unfortunately, that's football. "Cristiano, Kaka, Sergio Ramos... three complete monsters of football, there's no doubt about that, but they're also human.
"That night is the only time in my career as a coach that I've cried after a defeat. I remember it well... Aitor [Karanka] and I pulled up in front of my house, in the car, crying.
"It was very hard because we were the best that season."
