- Ivan Rakitic has stated that he is ready to play football
- The Barcelona star has not played since March this year
- Rakitic explained that he is ready to take the risk
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has explained that he is ready to return back to the pitch and play football even if it will be at the expense of him contracting coronavirus.
This shows how much more the Croatia international has missed football since the Spanish La Liga was suspended because of deadly covid-19.
Spanish La Liga has been on hold since March in which all the players have been told to stay at home with their families so as to prevent the spread of the virus.
With 11 games to end the 2019/20 season, Barcelona are still topping the standings with Real Madrid on second position with two points difference.
Already, the Leagues in Holland and France have been cancelled with speculation that the Spanish La Liga and the Premier League may also be cancelled.
While speaking with Marca, Ivan Rakitic explained that the focus of those in charge of football should be on how the game can improve public morale.
"I want to play. It is evident that we must try to return with the best sanitary guarantees but we must also know that they will never be 100 per cent.
"But that same risk will be borne by all workers on their return to work. Supermarket employees also change in dressing rooms and have the same or more possibility of getting it as we do.
"They take that risk and I want to take it too. I think we have that debt and I'm sure if we asked the fans they would love for there to be football,''. Rakitic explained.
