Coronavirus: It is a lie, I have not relaxed COVID-19 lockdown in Lagos - Sanwo-Olu

- Governor Sanwo-Olu says coronavirus lockdown in the state has not been relaxed

- The governor describes the purported information about lockdown as false and misleading

- Sanwo-Olu, however, urges the people of the state to obey the government's directive on lockdown

The Lagos government has asked all the people in the state to disregard the information circulating on social media that the coronavirus lockdown has been relaxed.

Legit.ng reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the denial on Wednesday, April 29, in a thread of tweet by his chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile.

The governor described the information as false and misleading, urging Lagosians to follow the government's directive.

The statement read: "Fake news: please disregard any piece of news, write up or forwarded information attributed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, circulating majorly on WhatsApp platforms such as the one here.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the governor is yet to make pronouncements on the relaxation of lockdown in Lagos state."

Akosile, however, said that the governor would make a pronouncement about the relaxation of lockdown at the appropriate time in line with his regular updates on the COVID-19 situation in the state.

He further stated: "The governor will do so at the appropriate time and in line with his regular updates on the COVID-19 situation in the state. For now, every citizen is enjoined to follow the presidential pronouncement on the restriction."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state narrated the ordeal he endured in isolation while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and how he contracted the virus.

El-Rufai disclosed on Tuesday, April 28, that he suffered serious headaches and fever within the first week of his isolation.

Speaking in a Hausa live media chat with selected radio stations in Kaduna, the governor said though he was not certain as to when or where exactly he contracted the virus, he suspected that he picked it up from Abuja where he attended several meetings.

He said he did not have symptoms of cough or other respiratory problems but noted that he suffered excruciating headaches and fever which he said he will not wish for his enemies.

He noted that though no member of his immediate family had tested positive for coronavirus, he said he infected a colleague, one of his drivers, his domestic staff and a close friend.
