Ex-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has named Irish former professional player Denis Irwin as the first player who would first make it to his dream XI team-sheet.

Alex Ferguson is among the most respected football managers in the world considering his achievement at Premier League side Manchester United.

He spent 27 years handling Manchester United winning many trophies and had superb relationship with many players who are still playing, while some have retired.

The likes of Eric Cantona, Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and even current handler of the Red Devils Ole Solskjaer all played under Ferguson.

But picking his dream XI among all the players Ferguson has coached would be difficult considering the numbers of those who were superb.

A player like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney will be hard to omit for any coach who had managed these two stars.

But according to the report on UK Mirror, Sir Alex Ferguson claimed back in 2003 that left back Denis Irwin would certainly be the first player he would pick on his team sheet.

Alex Ferguson explained that Denis Irwin only made one mistake in ten years at Manchester United which was an incredible one.

"Honestly, I would say Denis Irwin would be the one certainty to get in the team. I called him an eight out of 10,''. Ferguson explained.
