- Man United are in pole position to qualify for the Champions League after a season's absence
Rio Ferdinand has advised Manchester United to sign either of Atletico Madrid's duo Saul Niguez and Thomas Partey or Wilfred Ndidi to bolster their squad.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently rebuilding his squad and is expected to make new recruitments in the summer window.
The likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo were all added to Solskjaer's squad this season.
And Ferdinand believes the inclusion of a defensive midfielder would help strengthen the Red Devils squad further.
“I’d maybe go get Partey from Atletico Madrid or Ndidi from Leicester,” Ferdinand said on The Beautiful Game podcast.
“I like Saul Niguez. He’s a very, very good player in midfield.”
It is understood that Aston Villa ‘s Jack Grealish and Leicester ace James Maddison are United’s two top targets for the Red Devils next season.
The Old Trafford outfit are currently in fifth position on the Premier League table and have a strong chance of Champions playing Chleague football next season.
Solskjaer's men have gone 11 matches unbeaten but trail Chelsea with just three points with nine matches left to play.
They are still in the race to win the FA cup and the Europa League this season if they return from the lockdown.
The Premier League body has proposed a return date of May 30 and would conclude the season by end of July.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Rio Ferdinand admits he would have done far worse than Paul Pogba when he responded to Graeme Souness criticisms.
The Liverpool legend has always verbally attacked the Frenchman regarding his performance for Man United and Ferdinand is not having any of it.
Pogba recently responded to the Scotsman claiming he did not know who the three-time Champions League winner was.
Then 66-year-old responded with the jibe: "Put your medals on the table," but Pogba ended the dispute there, choosing not to reply Souness.
