Chinese scientists have said the novel coronavirus will likely not be eradicated but co-exists with humans for a long time.

A group of Chinese viral and medical researchers reportedly made the disclosure in Beijing at a briefing Monday, April 27, Bloomberg reports.

The group suggested that the epidemic is likely to become seasonal due to the so-called asymptomatic carriers which make it hard to fully contain transmission.

The scientists pointed out that this group of people can spread the virus undetected.

“This is very likely to be an epidemic that co-exists with humans for a long time, becomes seasonal and is sustained within human bodies,” said Jin Qi, director of the Institute of Pathogen Biology at China’s top medial research institute, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

In another news, President Donald Trump has suggested that the United States could seek damages from China over the COVID-19 outbreak. The US president made the suggestion on Monday morning, April 27 at a press briefing, The UK Guardian reports.

Trump said his administration was conducting serious investigations into Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the Economic Times, the US president noted that his administration believes that China could have stopped COVID-19 from spreading globally.

He stated that there are a lot of ways the US could hold China accountable.

Meanwhile, in an unprecedented move, a state in the United States of America, Missouri, has decided to sue the Chinese government and other top institutions over the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

The state accused China of covering up information, silencing whistleblowers and doing little to stop the spread of the disease.

This was disclosed by Missouri attorney general, Eric Schmitt, whole filed the civil lawsuit in federal court in the eastern district of Missouri, CNN reports
