COVID-19: Nasarawa records index case as coronavirus spreads to 34 states

Nasarawa state has joined the list of the Nigerian states with confirmed cases of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
Daily Trust reports that the state's director of public health, Dr Ibrahim Adamu, confirmed that the result of one of the people in isolation has been returned positive.
Legit.ng notes that despite Nasarawa state’s proximity to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which has recorded over 157 COVID-19 cases of the pandemic, the state until this development was yet to record any case.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, late on Monday, April 27, announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 in the country to take the total number to 1337.
According to the NCDC's announcement on Monday night, 33 states (including the FCT) have the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The development in Nasarawa state has, however, increased the number to 34. The NCDC is expected to update the figure on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the total lockdown of Kano state for two weeks in a bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the state.
The president made the directive on the evening of Monday, April 27, during a national broadcast on COVID-19 pandemic.
It was reported that as of Sunday, April 26, the northern state has confirmed 77 cases of COVID-19.
The president said: “With regards to Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately.
"The federal government shall deploy all the necessary human, material and technical resources to support the state in controlling and containing the pandemic and preventing the risk of further spread to neighboring states.”
President Buhari also promised to give the necessary support to the Kano state government to be able to win the war against the pandemic.
