Singer Banky W, others selected for 2020 Tutu Leadership Fellowship

- Singer Banky W is among 21 young Africans who have been selected for the 2020 Tutu Leadership Fellowship

- Apart from the singer, two other Nigerians made the cut for the fellowship

- According to the organizers, the fellowship programme has been postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic

It is indeed a proud moment for popular Nigerian singer and talent manager, Bankole Wellington aka Banky W, who has just been named among the 21 young Africans who have been selected for the 2020 Tutu Leadership Fellowship.

Banky W who delved into politics in 2018, when he made the announcement to contest for a seat in the House of Representative on the platform of Modern Democratic Party, seems to be gathering momentum for the next time he will make a run for public office.

The fellowship which is organized by the African Leadership Institute is a well-acclaimed platform for grooming and bringing together some of the continent’s best talents.

Interestingly, the singer is not the only Nigerian that made the cut of young professionals drawn from 11 countries in the continent.

The two other Nigerians are Olamide Aina who is an entrepreneur and Eric Idiahi who is financier and venture-builder of numerous African companies.

According to a statement by the organizers, more than 300 individuals were nominated for the fellowship from 36 African countries, with 21 finalists selected to take part.

"We received more than 300 nominees of outstanding quality from 36 African countries, from which 21 of Africa’s highest-potential young leaders were selected to take part in the programme," the statement read in part.

The organizers also disclosed that the current COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a postponement of the programme. However, activities will resume once it is safe again.

Some weeks ago, Legit.ng previously reported that Banky W shared an important message with some set of Nigerians. The singer and actor took to his social media page to talk to Nigerians arriving from high-risk countries. Banky W told them to obey authorities’ instructions and self-isolate themselves for 14 days.
