President Buhari signs proclamation order on management of COVID-19

- Nigeria's president has signed a proclamation order on the management of COVID-19 in the nation

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 27, signed the proclamation order on the general management of Covid-19 in the FCT, Lagos, Ogun, Kano and other states after easing the imposed lockdown measures.

Legit.ng gathered that Buhari who announced the measures to curb the spread of coronavirus during his nationwide broadcast noted that they take effect from Monday, May 4.

This was revealed in a statement by Femi Adesina, the president's special adviser on media and publicity.

The presidential spokesman went on to note that this was in exercise of the powers conferred on Buhari by Section 3 of the Quarantine Act, CAP Q2 Laws of the Federation 2004 and all powers enabling him in that behalf.

This development is coming after the end of a one-month lockdown in some states since Monday, March 30. Recall that President Buhari eased the lockdown measures imposed on Lagos, Abuja and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja beginning from Saturday, May 2.

The president made this known in a nationwide broadcast to Nigerians on Monday, April 27, after the end of a one-month lockdown since Monday, March 30.

President Buhari stated that the decision is in line with the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, various federal government committees, and the Nigeria Governors Forum.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the coronavirus pandemic has said despite progress so far made to combat the spread of the infection, the country had yet a long ground to cover.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha, who stated this on Monday, April 27, at the daily media briefing in Abuja, also said the situation in Kano state was being closely monitored.

The SGF whose speech opened the day’s briefing, re-echoed the charge to all Nigerians to take responsibility for the fight against COVID-19, noting that much more success would be achieved when advisories already issued and other preventive measures were seriously followed.
