Aminu Yahaya, a former commissioner of education in Kano state died on Sunday, April 26, adding to the number of unexplained deaths recorded in the state recently.
The Cable reports that Yahya died at his residence located at Gandun Albasa quarters in the city and has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

The newspaper also reported that Mudi Mudi, a senior official of the Kano Secondary School Management Board (KSSMB), died on Sunday.
The strange death toll in the state has continued to rise despite the assurance from the government that the situation is under control.

Legit.ng had reported that the Kano state commissioner of information, Muhammad Garba, in a statement on Sunday said findings by the state ministry of health has shown that most of the deaths were caused by complications arising from hypertension, diabetes, meningitis and acute malaria, Vanguard reports.
He stated that the ministry of health acting on the orders of Governor Umar Ganduje was already conducting a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the deaths
Garba disclosed that the governor was waiting for the final report from the state ministry of health before taking the necessary action over the issue.

The commissioner said the Kano state government is concerned about the deaths in the state Garba urged the people of the state not to panic, noting that Kano state government is on top of the situation.
Meanwhile, following the mass deaths recorded in Kano state amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an investigation should be launched into the situation immediately.
Legit.ng gathered that the opposition party who made the call on Sunday, April 26, urged for a presidential visit to the state where no fewer than 640 residents had died under mysterious circumstances.
The PDP in a series of tweets via its official Twitter also demanded that the president's office proceed to Kano state to identify with the people, find a solution, and contain the situation.
The PDP called on Nigerians to hold Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and his administration responsible for the development in Kano state and promptly investigate and contain the situation.

In the statement posted as a thread of tweets on his Twitter handle, @GovUmarGanduje, the Kano state government assured the residents that investigations are already ongoing to unravel the cause of the 'mysterious' deaths.
The Kano state governor said the health ministry has been up and doing in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
He urged the residents of the state to assist his administration in the fight against the pandemic by abiding by the preventive measures announced by the health authorities.
