- The renowned pastor during his sermon on Sunday, April 26, drummed support for the president's lockdown directive
- Recall that President Buhari announced a lockdown to enable the country to contain the spread of coronavirus
The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday, April 26, stressed the importance of staying at home as the country continues to battle the rise in coronavirus cases.
Legit.ng gathered the respected man of God noted that if Nigerians loved themselves they would obey President Muhammadu Buhari's lockdown directive and stay at home as a measure against the virus.
Pastor Adeboye who addressed his congregants via Sunday's live broadcast supported President Muhammadu Buhari's lockdown order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He explained that when the words of political leaders such as presidents are spoken there is power.
He said: “There are categories of power. There is political power. Ecclesiastes 8: 4 says where the word of a king is, there is power. You put it in the modern language, where the word of the president is, there is power.
“If you don’t believe that, just check what's happening now. The president sits in his house and makes a decree or pronouncement, everybody stay home, and if you love yourself, you better stay home.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Pastor Adeboye on Sunday, April 12, assured Nigerians that the coronavirus pandemic will be history in the country in no time.

Speaking on a live broad at the Easter service, Pastor Adeboye told all Christian faithful that the latest good news is that God Almighty is in control of the situation.
Furthermore, the famous cleric prophesied that the disease will be over soon. He said: “I want to bring good news to someone. I want to tell you that my God is not dead, he is alive."
In other news, the federal government is not disposed to the call by state governors for the relaxation of the current lockdown in the country over the coronavirus pandemic.
Sources said federal authorities are much in favour of partial restrictions in 33 of the 36 states with a view to mitigating the effects of the current lockdown in many parts of the country as against the relaxation being sought by the governors.
It was gathered that the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 which President Muhammadu Buhari relies on principally for advice on the pandemic is not in agreement with the governors that the government should soft-pedal in the FCT, Lagos, Ogun and Kano states.
