Actor Tom Hanks gifts his typewriter to 8-year-old bullied boy named Corona

- Hanks gifted a Corona-brand typewriter to an Australian boy who was bullied for having a name associated pandemic

- The boy revealed that his schoolmates called him “the coronavirus” due to his name something which made him angered him

- In a letter to the boy, the actor asked him to seek help from a grown-up and use it to write back to him

Tom Hanks has warmed the hearts of many after gifting a Corona-brand typewriter to an Australian boy who was bullied for having a name associated with coronavirus.

The young boy identified as Queensland’s Corona De Vries was excited to receive the typewriter saying he felt like he was already famous.

According to the New York Post, Hanks spent more than two weeks isolated with his wife, Rita Wilson, in Australia last month after testing positive for COVID-19.

When Corona De Vries heard of the actor's illness, he asked him if he was okay which was the start of their long-distance friendship

In the heartfelt letter, which aired on Australia’s Channel 7, the boy revealed that his schoolmates called him “the coronavirus” due to his name something which made him angered him.

Hanks was not one to see the boy suffer and so he sent him his typewriter which he happened to have brought with him to Australia. According to the Hollywood actor, the boy's letter made him and his wife feel wonderful.

In the letter, Hanks said that the young man was the only person he has ever known to have the name Corona. Then, to further lift the bullying victim’s spirits, Hanks gave De Vries his vintage writing instrument that bore his unique name asking him to ask a group how it works and use it to write back to him.
