Bola Tinubu’s close aide dies in hospital

A close aide to Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly died on Friday, April 24, in an undisclosed hospital.
The Cable reports that the aide, Lati Raheem, was the chief security officer to the APC chieftain before his death.
A source said Raheem died of complications from high blood pressure and diabetes on Friday, April 24.

“He was sick briefly and hospitalised. He had high blood pressure and diabetes. He died in early hours of Friday,” the source said.
The deceased was said to be the most trusted aide of the politician.
Raheem is reported to have been on Tinubu’s team for over 20 years and was the only aide still left from his time as governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007.
Meanwhile, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has revealed his last encounter with the Abba Kyari, the late chief of staff to the president.
Legit.ng reports that Adesina in his tribute to Kyari on Friday, April 24, recounted how the late chief of staff appeared in his dream the night before he died.
He recalled that in the dream which occurred on Thursday, April 16, the late Kyari, who stood to wait for him, “oddly” did not wear his usual ‘flowing Agbada’ and was heavily bearded.
The former chief of staff to the president died on Friday, April 17, after battling COVID-19.
Adesina said he is not much of a dreamer and made nothing of the one in which Kyari appeared until after his death.
In another news report, the Economist of London has described Abba Kyari, the late chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, as an honourable man.
The Economist in a piece published on Thursday, April 23, described Kyari as “a largely honourable man” who wanted the best for his country.
According to the magazine, the late chief of staff was often bothered about the degree of corruption in the country and thought of ways to end it.

The magazine made reference to an instance when the boss of an energy company “forgot” a bag stuffed with $100 bills at his office but Kyari was quoted to have said: “much too much of our work is spent on stopping our own people stealing”.
