Coronavirus: Aisha Buhari praises Patience Jonathan for donating medical items

Nigeria's first lady, Aisha Buhari, has praised her predecessor, Patience Jonathan, for her contributions towards the fight against the novel coronavirus.

The first lady disclosed this in a statement she released on her Facebook page on Thursday, April 23.

According to her, Jonathan willingly released her building that’s in court to be used as a Covid-19 isolation centre temporarily.

She also listed donated items as hospital beds, bedsheets, Personal Protective Equipment-PPE and medications.

She added that the items will be distributed immediately to centres where they will be utilized appropriately

"I would like to express my appreciation to all those who responded to our call through my GET INVOLVED INITIATIVE to contribute towards the fight against Covid 19.

"I thank Nigerians particularly all Former First Ladies for their Goodwill and some contributions in kind especially Dame Patience Jonathan for willingly releasing her hospital that’s in court but still under her possession to be used as a Covid -19 isolation center TEMPORARILY.

"All the donated items including hospital beds, bedsheets, Personal Protective Equipment-PPE and medications will be distributed immediately to centres where they will be utilized appropriately.

"It is my ernest prayers for the end of this global pandemic," she wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, recall that Legit.ng had reported that Aisha met with her predecessor, Patience at the State House on Monday, February 10.

The first lady who shared the pictures from the meeting on her official Facebook Page on Tuesday, February 11, explained that the status of women participation in politics was the focus of their discussion.

Legit.ng also reported that Patience struck a deal to release her 200-bed hotel worth about N2 billion as COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre as the country continues the battle against coronavirus.

The hotel which is under interim forfeiture was secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) back in 2018.

Mrs. Buhari through her pet project, the Future Assured Programme, struck a separate agreement with the former first lady and the ministry of health to convert the hotel into a COVID-19 treatment centre.
