COVID-19: Minister of aviation denies five governors flight approval

The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, has disclosed that he has denied five governors flight approval since the closure of the airports following the lockdown order by the federal government to check the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
Sirika made the disclosure in Abuja on Tuesday, April 21, at the daily press briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, PM News reports.

He said three of the governors were members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“There is no exception to governors. I have denied several of such flights. Including two governors from South-south, two from South-east and by the way, three of them are members of the APC and I think one is from North-central," Sirika said.
The minister noted that 98 % of the flight approved and those to be approved will be COVID-19 related.
He made the statement when reacting to claims that some flights were been approved in the country despite the closure of the airports.

Meanwhile, Frank Okiye, Edo state house of assembly speaker, has called for a collective fight against the coronavirus pandemic as he survived the scare of the virus after testing negative twice.
Legit.ng recalls Okiye tested positive to the global pandemic and the information of his COVID-19 status was disclosed by the Edo state deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, while briefing journalists on Wednesday, March 25.
He was said to have contracted the disease during his visit to the United Kingdom and was afterwards subjected to treatment after showing symptoms.
But speaking on Tuesday, April 21, on his survival journey, Okiye disclosed that what saved him was early treatment after he became symptomatic.
Okiye, who thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for his leadership in handling the crisis, noted that though no vaccine solution has been discovered for the Covid-19, "the virus is not a death sentence" as people claimed.
The Edo speaker also revealed that after he became "destabilised" after testing positive to the pandemic but interaction with people gave him the confidence.
In another news, a Nigerian Twitter user who is living in Canada with the handle @ChuksJaphet has revealed that the Canadian government gave them c$2,290 (N626,406.62) each.
He said that they were first given a deposit of c$2000 (N547,080.02) before they were on Monday, April 19, given another c$290 (N79,326.60).
@ChuksJaphets berated the Nigerian government for asking them to come back home and telling them that they would be paying for their flight cost.
The Nigerian Twitter user, therefore, added that home is not where one is born but where the political leaders have your interest at heart.
