The defense headquarters in a statement disclosed that the operation was executed on April 19, 2020, sequel to reports that some armed bandits, clad in black attire, had been sighted along with a large herd of rustled cattle in the area.

The statement disclosed that an attack aircraft was dispatched scrambled to the location.

According to the armed forces, bandits scampered to conceal themselves under nearby shrubs after sighting the aircraft but were engaged with cannon fire which led to the neutralization of several of them.

The armed forces urged the general public to continue to provide useful information that would facilitate its operation to restore peace and security to all affected parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military on Saturday, April 18 foiled an attack by bandits in two communities in Katsina state.

The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji inflicted damages on the armed bandits, thereby disrupting their attack on inhabitants of Kurechi and Qurzan Maikuka villages of Dutsin-Ma local government area of the state.

A statement by the coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major-General John Enenche, revealed that the incident occurred when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Agusta 109E (M) helicopter was redirected to the area.

According to the statement, the helicopter was providing close air support to troops of the land component operating west of Gusau in Zamfara state before it was recalled.

In another report, the Katsina state police command, gas disclosed that bandits have killed 47 people in early morning attacks on communities in three local government areas of the state.

The command’s Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Katsina.

He said that the bandits carried out the attacks in Dutsinma, Danmusa and Safana local government areas at about 00:30 hours on April 18.

The command spokesman did not give further details, but said that police, army, Air Force, civil defence and DSS personnel had been deployed to restore normalcy in the affected communities.

Still on security, the campaign to flush out criminal elements from Kogi received a boost recently as 4 kidnappers, 8 bandits and 16 cultists were arrested in the state recently.

The criminals were arrested by the Joint Task Force of State Vigilante Service and the Neighbourhood Watch in the state.

Legit.ng gathered that the four kidnappers who confessed to be terrorizing the people of Dekina and Bassa local government areas.

On the other hand, the cultists who are from Ankpa local government area were arrested in Olamaboro local government area where they were carrying out the initiation of new members.

The cult group also confessed to have carried out several armed robbery operations on Ankpa-Okpo-Otukpa road.

Similarly, an 8-man gang of miscreants who were involved in destabilizing the peace around Anyigba and Egume areas of Dekina local government area of the state were also apprehended by the security agencies.

They were said to have led masquerades into a mosque during Islamic congregational prayers in order to spark up religious crisis.
