Actor Johnny Depp joined Instagram almost 24 hours ago but has more than 1 million followers already.

The City of Lies actor has only made two posts but his Instagram account is already buzzing.

His first post was a picture of himself.

He captioned it:

"Hello everyone... filming something for you now... gimme a minute."

It has received over 1 million likes and over 85 000 comments.

His second post is a video post, which has garnered over 2 million views.

In the video, Johnny says:

"Hi. Hello to whomever might be out there and is around receiving this transmission. This is my first experience within the world of social media. I've never done this before, I don't think I've really ever felt any particular reason until now. Now is the time to open up the dialogue."

He goes on to talk to about the "hideous global pandemic" Covid-19. He urges people to help each other during these trying times.

"Stay busy in your mind, we will get through this."

He thanked his supporters for their support over these years and also used the opportunity to promote his new music.
