Former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, has announced that he and his aides have tested negative for COVID-19.
The former governor made this known on his Facebook page on Thursday, April 16, adding that his police orderly and the driver also tested negative.
“Dr Imam Wada Bello called at 5:35pm 15/4/2020 and informed me that they are through with our sample tests and our results, that is myself, driver and Orderly thankfully are ALL NEGATIVE and that he will send me the details later tonight," he wrote.
Lamido added that the results will be sent to him on Thursday morning, April 16.
He expressed gratitude to the people who have been praying for him after his samples were collected for the test.
The former governor of Jigawa state also commended the professionalism of the team who handled the COVID-19 test.
He said: “I still do not know how to react to the professionalism of Dr Bello and his team or to the hundreds messages of prayers and goodwill on my Facebook wall or to over a thousand text messages of prayers on my MTN number from across all religious, tribal, regional, political, racial or any divide! Only Allah the most merciful most benevolent can make this happen!”
“For now or any time I do not have the language, in art or mastery to convey to each and every one the depth of my feelings or emotions or gratitude.”
Following his presence at a funeral in Koki, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had earlier advised Lamido to self-isolate.
In a message to Lamido, through Imam Wada Bello, the director of public health, Kano state ministry of health, the NCDC stated that the former governor was at the same funeral where the index case of coronavirus in the state had contact with persons who attended the said burial.
In his response to the advice, the former governor said that he would make himself available for any possible test and its results.
