Coronavirus: Nigeria records 34 new COVID-19 cases as total hits 407

- Nigeria records 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday as total soars to 407 in 19 states and the FCT

- According to the NCDC, 18 of the new cases are in Lagos, 12 in Kano, 2 in Katsina, 1 in Delta and 1 in Niger

- There are now 407 confirmed cases across the country with 128 recoveries and 12 deaths

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 34 new coronavirus cases in the country.

The agency announced the latest cases in a tweet late Wednesday, April 15.

“Thirty-four new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 18 Lagos , 12 in Kano. 2 in Katsina, 1 in Delta, 1 in Niger. As at 11:20 pm 15th April there are 407 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 128 have been discharged with 12 deaths,” the tweet read.

  • 1 in Delta
  • 1 in Niger

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) announced the death of Chugbo Emeka, a medical doctor.

The announcement was made via a post on the association’s Twitter handle on Wednesday evening, April 15.

The doctor who was reportedly a private medical practitioner was said to have died after being exposed to a COVID-19 patient.

He reportedly died at the isolation ward of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

The tweet reads: "NMA LAGOS regrets to announce the death of Dr Chugbo Emeka at the LUTH isolation ward. He died on 15/04/2020. He was a Private Medical Practitioner who was exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19.

"We condole with his family and d medical community for this painful loss.

"NMA Lagos."
