Coronavirus: 22 suspected Gombe state cases test negative
- The Gombe state government has revealed the results of twenty-two persons who were tested for coronavirus

The results of twenty-two people who were tested for COVID-19 by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) laboratory in Abuja was on Tuesday, April 14, released by the Gombe state government.
Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya in a live broadcast said the suspected cases of coronavirus sent for testing returned negative, Daily Trust reports.
According to the governor, a special task force on coronavirus in the state chaired by Professor Idris Mohammed had identified twenty-two suspected cases and sent the samples for testing.
Yahaya further said that the results have shown that the measures being taken to curb the spread of the disease are effective.

He urged Gombe state residents to support the efforts of the government at containing the spread of coronavirus in the state.
The governor while noting that the compliance with the restriction order and shutdown of the state boundaries was encouraging, the attitude of some people and security agencies reportedly helping motorists sneak into the state is discouraging.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night, April 14, announced eleven cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 373.
The disease control agency earlier on Tuesday reported nineteen (19) cases as Akwa Ibom got one more patient. In what caused a huge scare, NCDC announced the new eleven cases - meaning Nigeria recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases within the run of twenty-four hours.
In a tweet by the centre at exactly 11:00 pm, all the eleven cases were recorded in Lagos as the Covid-19 toll in Nigeria's economic capital tragically rose to 214.
Similarly, the Abia state government has announced the result of the first suspected case of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the state.
Briefing the general public on the status of the suspected case on Sunday, April 5, Abia commissioner of information John Okiyi-Kalu, said the case tested negative.
This gives a sigh of relief to the people of Abia state amid the growing scare of coronavirus across the country.
