Since the 21-day nationwide lockdown was announced in India, hunger has been biting hard as citizens of the Asian country are feeling the effect of the coronavirus lockdown.
The condition of the poor people in the country is heartbreaking as pictures and videos of their current state flood social media.
A video has emerged on social media in which a man could be seen scooping milk spilt on a road which a pack of dogs were feeding on.
According to India Times, a large milk container reportedly overturned there which led to a large amount of milk being spilt on the road.
Legit.ng notes that the man scooped up as much of the spilt milk as he could as a pack of dogs fed on it.
The 21-day lockdown that was supposed to end on Tuesday, April 15, has been extended till May 3.
However, according to Hindustan Times, the SHO of Itimad-ud-daula police station, Uday Veer Malik, confirmed the incident but said the man in the video, believed to be unstable, was collecting the milk for the dogs and not himself.
Hindustan Times quoted Malik as saying: “The man (50) lives under the Ram Bagh flyover and sometimes moves to temple nearby. He collects food and other edibles to feed dogs and on Monday morning had collected milk to feed the dogs.
"The man was not collecting milk for himself but for feeding the dogs after a milkmen carrying milk in container slipped and milk was spread on road."
In other news, the Eyo Adimu Orisa has given residents of Isale Eko area of Lagos cash and various food items to cushion the effect of the ongoing lockdown over coronavirus.
The kind gesture was contained in a statement jointly released by the leaders of the group, Chief Adebola Dosunmu, the Akinshiku of Lagos and chairman of Eyo Adimu, Chief Olumuyiwa Coker.
They made the kind gesture after noting the effect of the pandemic on the livelihood and sustenance of the people.
