Buratai boosts morale of troops fighting Boko Haram with special Easter luncheon

- Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole celebrated Easter with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Tukur Buratai

- Buratai led other army generals to serve the troops at a special Easter luncheon on Monday, April 13, in Borno state

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Tukur Buratai celebrated this year’s Easter with troops of Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole in a morale-boosting event.

Legit.ng reports that this was revealed in a statement issued by the acting director of Army public relations, Colonel Sagir Musa.

The army boss led other generals to serve the troops' food at a special Easter luncheon on Monday, April 13, at the Army Special Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga local government area of Borno state.

Buratai was accompanied by Maj Gen EO Udoh, the chief of training and operations Army, Corps Commander Engineers Maj Gen JS Malu, Theatre Commander Theatre Command OPLD Maj Gen F Yahaya, Commander Sector 2 Brig Gen LA Araba, Brigade Commanders, and Commanding Officers.

The COAS speaking at the event which had a large number of gallant troops of in attendance extended his appreciation and commendation and that of the president and Commander - In - Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari for their sacrifices and uncommon commitments in the collective efforts to end terrorism.

He went on to direct the resilient troops to demonstrate more commitment and determination to ensure the speedy defeat of terrorism in Nigeria.

He said: "Let me assure you of our total support to bring Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorism to an end. As you can see, we have started getting some consignments of our needs, what we want from you is total loyalty to the Nation, the President, C-In-C and to ensure destruction of terrorism in our country very soon. I assure you I will be with you until substantial progress has been made in this regard."

Recall that Buratai had relocated fully to the northeast where he is overseeing and directing the overall operation in the theatre and other Nigerian Army operations across the country.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Friday, April 10, by the acting director of Army public relations, Colonel Sagir Musa.

While addressing troops of Special Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga local government area of Borno state on Thursday, April 9, Buratai said that he would be with them to the nooks and crannies of the theatre.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the chief of army staff vowed that he will not leave the theatre of Operation Lafiya Dole until Boko Haram insurgents are finally defeated.

Buratai regretted that the insurgency has lasted for too long but gave assurances that in no time the terrorists will be completely flushed out.

He assured the troops of the support of President Muhammadu Buhari who he said has provided all that they need to defeat the enemies. He also promised that he will not leave the camp until he gives a final blow on the insurgents.
