The prime minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has been discharged after spending six days at St Thomas' Hospital in central Londo, Mirror reports.
Johnson who was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, April 5, will continue his recovery from coronavirus at Chequers, his country manor in Buckinghamshire, a Downing Street spokesperson said.
Recall that the UK prime minister was admitted with persistent COVID-19 symptoms ten days after testing positive for coronavirus.
Legit.ng gathered that Johnson will not be returning to work immediately based on the advice of his medical personnel.
The spokesman said: “The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers. On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work.
"He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received. All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.”
The British prime minister's release from the hospital is coming two days he moved out of intensive care after persistent coronavirus symptoms.
A Downing Street spokesperson disclosed that Johnson was moved from the intensive care back to the ward on Thursday evening, April 9.
Meanwhile, in another report on coronavirus, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has recovered from the deadly virus after testing negative for the disease a second time.
Makinde broke the news in a tweet late on Sunday, April 5 and thanked the people of the state for their prayers. The governor also thanked Professor Temitope Alonge who acted in his stead as head of the Oyo state COVID-19 task force while he was being treated.
“I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force,” he tweeted.
In a related development, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state on Thursday, April 9, announced the result of coronavirus pandemic test he undertook days after he tested positive of the deadly disease.
In a tweet posted on his Twitter handle @SenBalaMohammed, the governor said he is now tested negative for the deadly disease.
