The Lagos state government has disclosed that a 66-year-old Briton has died of the coronavirus in the state.

The commissioner said the number of discharged patients in the state amount to 32, while the confirmed cases of coronavirus had increased to 130 in the state.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos state government announced that it has discharged another patient who has fully recovered from the coronavirus infection.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who made the disclosure in a tweet on Tuesday, April 7, said the patient, a female, was discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba.

Meanwhile, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammad Bello has disclosed that seven patients who were infected with coronavirus have recovered in Abuja.

Bello in a statement on Tuesday, April 7, said the seven patients tested negative to the virus twice and are set to be discharged, Premium Times reports.

He said the medical team in Abuja are doing their best to ensure that the recovery of the remaining 39 patients

The minister commended Abuja residents for adhering to the 14-day restriction of movement as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, with a view to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

In another report, the Sokoto state commissioner for health, Muhammad Ali Inname, has said that twenty -nine international and local returnees are being tracked as part of preventive measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Inname speaking with Caliphate Trust on Tuesday, April 7, said about eleven of the returns had completed the 14 days’ mandatory self-isolation.

He said: “The most important things for us in Sokoto since we do not have a case is surveillance and tracking. We have 10 screening points for security and health workers across the borders- Zamfara, Kebbi and Niger Republic.”

The commissioner noted that health directors and village heads in the various councils have been engaged to do the needful on people who use remote routes to beat screening.

He further said various strategies were being devised which includes community mobilization to increase awareness of the deadly virus in the state.

Inname revealed that there are plans to organize special training for journalists on COVID-19 as information management is key in the response to coronavirus.
