Lagos state government to prosecute guests that attended Funke Akindele’s party

- The Lagos state government plans to prosecute all the guests that attended actress Funke Akindele's party amid coronavirus lockdown

- Akindele and her husband were asked to submit the names and numbers of people at the infamous party

- It was also reported that the actress and her husband have been sentenced to 14-day community service

Actress Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz, came under fire recently after they held a birthday party with over twenty guests amid coronavirus lockdown.

The actress and her husband were called out on social media for flouting the rules to prevent the spread of the virus. This led to the couple's arrest by Lagos state police.

They were charged to court where they received their sentences. It was also gathered that the couple was asked to submit the names and numbers of those that attended their party to the Lagos state government.

According to Lagos state's attorney-general, Moyosire Onigbanjo, the attendees would also be prosecuted for flouting the social distancing order by the state.

"The defendants are to pay a fine of 100,000 each, sentenced to 14 days community service, three hours per day, excluding Saturday and Sunday; each defender shall visit 10 important public places within Lagos state to educate the public on the consequences of non-compliance with the restriction order, and they must submit the names and phone numbers of every person who attended the party. They shall be placed on isolation by the state government to determine their COVID-19 status. Failure to abide by the above directives shall attract more severe punishments."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the actress and her husband have been sentenced for violating social distancing order. The celebrity couple got N100,000 fine each and are expected to undergo 14-day community service separately.

The couple was on Monday, April 6, 2020, arraigned in chief magistrate court 1 Ogba, on one count charge. They were brought to court by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Yaba, led by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the investigation, DCP Yetunde Longe.

The prosecuting team was lead by the Hon Attorney General of Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN. The charge was read to the accused persons by the Court and they pleaded guilty. The court found them guilty as charged.
