Uti Nwachukwu is calling on the Lagos state government to free Nollywood actress Funke Akindele-Bello. The media personality took to his social media page to beg for the actress' release.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Funke Akindele was arrested after flouting the rules of the state government on public gatherings. She organised a birthday party for her husband in her house and it had a lot of people in attendance.

The Jenifa star has also been arraigned before a magistrate court where she pleaded guilty. Following this, Nigerian celebrities have come out to show support to one of their own.

Uti Nwachukwu took to his Instagram page to air his opinion about the filmmaker's arrest. According to him, people who are quick to hail a celebrity are also the ones who quickly call for their punishment when they err.

He stated that one of the lessons he learnt very early as a celebrity is not to fall for most of the praises of people who claim they are fans unless they have been tried and tested.

He stated that people are always waiting to see someone fall from grace. Uti urged Funke Akindele to stand strong, calling on whoever has obeyed the lockdown rules perfectly to cast the first stone.

The media personality stated that Akindele has apologised and tweeted that she is broken. He noted that it shows that she is remorseful about her mistake.

In other news, Legit.ng earlier reported that Funke Akindele pleaded guilty in court. Funke Akindele pleaded guilty for defiling the orders of the Lagos state government which had ordered Lagosians to stay at home and avoid social gatherings. Funke and her husband were arraigned before a court.
