Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo is hoping to have a permanent deal with Manchester United as his six-month loan deal expires in June, according to reports from the Mirror.

Although in the wake of the rampaging coronavirus which has forced all elite football competitions across the UK to be suspended, the loan deal could be extended after it elapses.

Ighalo has hinted that he wants to remain with the Old Trafford outfit beyond the current season despite his parent Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua offering him a fresh £400k-per-week contract.

It was gathered that the Reds Devils are preparing to sign the former Watford man for a fee around £15million on a permanent basis.

Ighalo adds that he is having a great time with the club and he is being inspired by a lot of things.

"I am inspired by a lot of things at United,” said Ighalo, speaking from his home during the coronavirus lockdown.

“I am really inspired and I am looking forward to spending more time with the team.

“Seeing the club from the outside you don't know how big it is. But when you are inside you know how big the club is.

“I am inspired by the way the club is structured, I am inspired by the direction of the club.

“I am inspired by the development of the young players and how they are coming through from the grassroots to the first-team.”

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered heavy criticisms when he signed the Nigerian on deadline day to stand in for injured Marcus Rashford. However, the Nigerian has gone on to shun critics scoring important goals for United since his arrival.

Ighalo further claimed that he is a fighter and that although some people think he is gentle.

"Well, many people would say 'he is a gentle guy but inside he is a beast'.

“I am a fighter, I never give up, I go for what I believe I can achieve and I give my best, 100 per cent.

“No matter the outcome of the game, win or lose, I always give 100 per cent from the beginning."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Odion Ighalo has named Juan Mata as his closest Manchester United teammate at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua on a six months loan deal earlier this year.

And he made an instant impact in his first two months at the Theater of Dreams scoring four goals and getting one assist in eight appearances across competitions.
