NCDC has not engaged ambassadors - Health agency says amid Funke Akindele house-party drama

- According to reports, it was alleged that the actress flouted the health guidelines despite being an ambassador for the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control and Dettol

- However, the NCDC has denied the allegation, while Dettol noted that it does not condone breaching of guidelines

This past weekend, actress Funke Akindele-Bello was the major topic of discussion on social media after she hosted a house-party amid coronavirus lockdown. The party was done to celebrate her husband, JJC Skillz's 43rd birthday.

It was attended by a few people and musician, Naira Marley, despite the fact that people were advised to practice social distancing. Nigerians were furious with the actress and her husband and people called her out for it.

In some statements that were made online, people noted that as an actress and a role model to people she should have known better than to host a party. Others even alleged that she is a brand ambassador for the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) and Dettol.

However, reacting to the allegations, the NCDC on Twitter denied engaging brand ambassadors. The agency noted that it has not engaged ambassadors for the COVID-19 period.

NCDC also called on Nigerians to maintain social distancing and prevent the spread of the virus.

Dettol joined the agency on Twitter to also react to the house-party issue. The company stated that Akindele is not a brand ambassador for the government health agency.

In the tweet, it was revealed that the NCDC partnered with Dettol on a message to educate communities about coronavirus. Dettol also noted that as a brand it does not condone any breach of coronavirus guidelines.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that the Nollywood actress was arrested by the Lagos state police command over the house party hosted in her house to celebrate her husband's birthday on Saturday, April 4, at their Amen Estate residence.

According to a press statement by the Lagos state police command signed by DSP Bala Elkana, police public relations officer, made available to, the Jenifa actress was arrested by detectives from the State CID Yaba.

While the actress was promptly picked up, her husband, JJC Skillz and Naira Marley were not readily available and they have been advised by the police command to report to their office on Monday, April 6, or risk being declared wanted. ( -> We have upgraded to serve you better
