NCDC has not engaged ambassadors - Health agency says amid Funke Akindele house-party drama

- Actress Funke Akindele recently received online backlash after she hosted a house-party amid coronavirus lockdown

- It was gathered that her action led to her arrest and the actress later apologised to the public for misleading people

- According to reports, it was alleged that the actress flouted the health guidelines despite being an ambassador for the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control and Dettol

- However, the NCDC has denied the allegation, while Dettol noted that it does not condone breaching of guidelines

This past weekend, actress Funke Akindele-Bello was the major topic of discussion on social media after she hosted a house-party amid coronavirus lockdown. The party was done to celebrate her husband, JJC Skillz's 43rd birthday.

It was attended by a few people and musician, Naira Marley, despite the fact that people were advised to practice social distancing. Nigerians were furious with the actress and her husband and people called her out for it.

However, reacting to the allegations, the NCDC on Twitter denied engaging brand ambassadors. The agency noted that it has not engaged ambassadors for the COVID-19 period.

NCDC also called on Nigerians to maintain social distancing and prevent the spread of the virus.

Dettol joined the agency on Twitter to also react to the house-party issue. The company stated that Akindele is not a brand ambassador for the government health agency.

In the tweet, it was revealed that the NCDC partnered with Dettol on a message to educate communities about coronavirus. Dettol also noted that as a brand it does not condone any breach of coronavirus guidelines.
