Coronavirus: Lagos state discharges five more patients

Lagos government has announced that five more patients of coronavirus (Covid-19) have been discharged barely twenty-four hours after one patient was declared fully recovered from the pandemic.

Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, made the hope-filled announcement on Sunday, April 5, in a series of tweets via his official and verified Twitter handle.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the new set of fully recovered patients include two males and three females.

He further emphasised that one of the patients is a 10-year-old girl who tested negative twice to the virus, bringing the number of discharged cases to 29 as at the time of this report.

"Dear Lagosians, yesterday I announced the discharge of one more patient from our Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

"Today, I am happy to inform you that five more patients comprising two males and three females including a 10-year-old girl have tested negative twice.

"These 5 patients have been discharged to reunite with their families. This brings to a total of 29, the number of patients who have fully recovered and have been discharged from our facility at Yaba," Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor, however, warned against the stigmatisation of the discharged coronavirus patients.

He also enjoined the people of the state to practise social distancing and hold the preventive measure with a firm fist.

Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked the health workers in the state for their hardwork and amazing job.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Lagos state government has announced a fresh casualty from coronavirus, officially bringing the death toll from the deadly pandemic to two in the state.

Professor Akin Abayomi, Lagos state commissioner for health, made the announcement on Sunday, April 5, via his Twitter account.

Abayomi disclosed that the victim was a 36-year-old Nigerian male who died in a private facility on Saturday, April 4.

The commissioner, who said two cases have been evacuated from the state, also added that Lagos just recorded six cases of coronavirus.
