COVID-19: FG threatens to extend Buhari's stay-at-home order

- Residents of Lagos, Ogun and the FCT may have to remain at their homes for more than two weeks

- The federal government said that this might be its next decision following the refusal of some Nigerians to heed the lockdown order

- This was made known by the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed

Emerging indications are pointing to the possibility that the two-week lockdown order imposed on residents in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by President Muhammadu Buhari will be extended.

The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, expressed this view on Friday, April 3, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Mohammed said that the federal government will be forced to extend the number of days for the stay-at-home order if Nigerians continue to disobey the directive.

The minister categorically stated: “If we don’t behave ourselves, there is a likelihood that the lockdown will be extended. But if we behave ourselves, there might not be an extension and I hope we do so.”
