COVID-19: Oprah donates N3.6 billion to fight pandemic in US

- Oprah is donating a whopping N3.6 billion to the fight against coronavirus

- The celebrity talk show host shared the good news on April 2 on social media

- Oprah also revealed that she would be donating N360m out of the money to Americans in need of food

American talk show host, actress and philanthropist, Oprah Gail Winfrey has contributed towards the fight against coronavirus in the United States by donating a huge amount of money.

Announcing the good news on social media, Oprah pledge the sum of $10 million (N3.6 billion) to the fight against coronavirus. She also revealed that $1 million (N360 million) out of it will go to Americans who are in need of food.

She revealed that the money will be going to America's Food Fund which is an initiative co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio and Laurene Powell Jobs, aimed at providing meals for communities hit hard by the virus.

Oprah stated that the remaining $9 million (N3.3 billion) will go to various COVID-19 related relief efforts in communities across the country and in areas where she grew up; Mississippi and Tennessee.

The twenty-two-year-old American billionaire and cosmetics mogul a while back, donated a huge amount of cash to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The mother of one was said to have donated N366m to go towards helping health workers treating patients with coronavirus.

According to TMZ, the reality TV star's donations will go into providing thousands of masks, test kits and other protective gear needed by health professionals.

Meanewhile, top Nigerian billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote has brought hope to the people of Kano state following his generous donation towards the fight against the coronavirus pandemic also known as COVID-19.

Dangote who is Africa's richest man donated a 600-bed isolation center to the state, which will be mounted at the Sani Abacha Stadium, according Salihu Tanko Yakasai who is the special adviser on media in the state.
